NewsMonster.org broke
it. Silly me, I wanted to try it and didn't notice the site was last updated 3
years ago and the requirements state Mozilla 1.0. I don't know how well did it
work in Firefox 1.0, but it screws

re: NewsMonster Screws Firefox 1.5

NewsMonster was an open source application and project, so Kevin wasn't "starting new stuff hoping to be acquired by some big company to get rich". In fact, he barely made the rent while working on it and sacrificed alot to keep it open source.

Projects end, software doesn't work out; NewsMonster is several years old now and didn't pan out. The "software on the web" model pretty much won out over the "extend Mozilla with XUL approach", so Kevin saw the writing on the wall and moved on. People have to be able to end a project and move on.

Brad

re: NewsMonster Screws Firefox 1.5

I put it in that way because I read from his own words at his post that he was hoping to get the same luck as WebJay. I would say, first make sure the things you left behind won't ruin your reputation.

For the record, I've posted about Rojo since I wrote this because it's the one I'm currently using. I find it useful, so thumbs up to Kevin on that one.
